The Bay Area’s most anticipated restaurant openings of 2026

The first major Asian grocery store to open in 2026 will be Tokyo Central, bringing 40,000 square feet of Japanese products, produce, meat and grab-and-go foods to the Bay Street Emeryville mall. The store will also have its own sushi bar dedicated to hand rolls: the eponymous Hand Roll Factory. This will mark the Bay Area’s second Tokyo Central, in addition to one in Cupertino.
