Bay Street Emeryville will welcome Japan-based grocery and retailer Tokyo Central as a new anchor tenant in 2025, the commercial center’s owner, CentralCal Properties, announced last week.

Tokyo Central will fill a new 40,635-square-foot building and include an “upscale” Japanese restaurant, according to the press release.

It is the first Tokyo Central in the East Bay and will be significantly larger than the grocery store’s only other location in Northern California, a roughly 29,000-square-foot store in Cupertino.
